For pattern makers, a toile is a mock-up garment made from a raw cotton canvas. Once a pattern is refined, the pieces are usually cast away.

The Toile trousers project explores the wearability of this underestimated and surprising material. What is considered a poor fabric, after a first wash turns out to be soft and textured, and very comfortable to wear.

This project was presented during the 58th Salone del Mobile. It was part of De Rerum Natura, an exhibition on sustainable design in Milan’s Cascina Cuccagna.
